Cycling goggles with a mask are becoming more and more popular, so Barbara and I tested the uvex RXs 4302 while riding through the Pokljuka forests.

We were interested in:

• Usability in variable light conditions – from bright sun to less light between dense trees. The mask is darkened 85% in gray color, it has an added mirror coating, which is great for strong sun. Driving in the forest with less light is still safe.

  For driving at night, I would opt for photochromic glasses. In my uvex RXd 4000 glasses, I have built-in Transitions XTRActive lenses, which offer me  excellent vision in strong sunlight (absorption over 85% in the activated state). In the dark the lenses absorb 15%, what is enough for safe drive during the night (max. absorption is 20%).

• Good ventilation when driving slowly: the mask has three vents on the upper part on each side for increased air flow.
• Excellent protection against the wind when driving fast: the large mask provides excellent protection against the wind, even at higher speeds.
• Prescription lenses: the diopter attachment is easily installed in the glasses.A strong magnet reliably holds the attachment in the glasses.

  Barbara has built-in Sport single-vision lenses, which provide her with an unlimited field of vision. I use Magic Endless Sport progressive lenses. These glasses allow me to have unobstructed vision in the distance, and the near part to use a smartphone with navigation.

• Comfort: adjustable rubber nosepieces and handles allow the glasses to be adjusted to the face and used with a helmet smoothly – even during long-term use.
• Safety: the unbreakable frame and mask completely protect the eyes while driving in the forest.
